‘Tripping’ on a twelve pence budget

Six pence in the morning

Five pence in the afternoon

A penny at night

Wine and dined with seven pence

Strolled shoeless on the shores of my life

Across intimate meadows

Covered with blossoming wildflowers

Got into the hot pool in my head

listening to songs with drifting lyrics

I pushed my way through droplets of sweat

With a Loosely rolled ‘spliff ‘

Sealed with a desire on the tip of my tongue

I sniffed long-drawn-out mouthfuls

Blowing play safe circles in the wind

I called out to me

She echoed

A howling screech from a parallel space
